Mayfield Free Range Eggs is a passion of three generations of an Oxfordshire farming family committed to providing the best care possible for their hens – roaming free on acres of lush, grassy fields, with plenty of space for natural hen behaviors such as dust bathing and foraging.
We are proud to serve the majority of Oxford University Colleges, a range of high quality Oxfordshire hotels, restaurants and delicatessens including two Michelin star restaurant, Le Manoir in Great Milton.

Our hen houses are mobile and we move them onto fresh grass between each flock using our tractor, resting the land between flocks and avoiding the use of chemicals to restore the soil – very different to the world of supermarket eggs where they have up to 32,000 hens in a permanent hen house.
Our hens are fed a diet with 3 times more the vitamin E levels found in a supermarket egg. Vitamin E boosts your immune system, very useful for free range hens that mix with wild birds.
A natural yolk – yolk colours are often achieved by adding synthetic chemicals to the hens feed to produce a rich yolk. At Mayfield Eggs, we only use natural ingredients (paprika & marigold) to achieve our yolk colour.
Consistency in quality – Over 3 generations, we’ve worked to create a great quality egg and today, we now serve 30+ Oxford University colleges, fine dining restaurants and hotels across Oxfordshire.
Since our hens live in relatively small flocks, it gives us the opportunity to work with British Hen Welfare Trust so that all our hens enjoy their retirement as pets across the UK when they’re ready to leave the farm. The standard flock sizes for commercial egg farms is either 16,000 or 32,000 per flock, far too many hens for the charity to rehome over a weekend.

Cotteswold Dairy is a family run business that has processed milk since 1938. We pride ourselves with the relationship we have with our farmers. The farmers are hand-picked to ensure they share our same ethos. We have to know that the milk coming into the dairy is from farmers that high welfare standards and ethical farming practices. The milk being supplied has to be of the highest quality and is sustainably sourced.
All of our farmers have to be Red Tractor Assured and adhere to their high standards the Organic producers also have to be assured by the soil association and follow all regulatory standards.
The cows are mostly grazed when the weather is fine but in the winter months the cows are housed in comfortable barns with plenty of loafing area, dry bedding, clean water, natural light and fresh food. We are proud to work with some of the best Dairy Farmers who have very high standards for cow health and welfare.
At Cotteswold Dairy we have a dedicated farm liaison officer that works closely with all producers to ensure these standards are adhered to, this is maintained by frequent communication and farm visits.
